Coventry City Council Job Shop commissioned Arty-Folks to provide an exciting new creative employability programme and support young people 16-29yrs old take steps towards their dream job.

Arty-Folks Creative Employability Programme takes place at our art studios in Coventry and enrolment is still open now. And it’s all free!

Thanks to funders National Lottery Community Fund young people will be able to attend weekly workshops and build a portfolio of artwork that will help them start creative jobs, training, or art education.

Anyone between the ages of 16-29 can sign up to take part in the programme, which will see weekly art workshops including painting, photography, sculpture, video, drawing, installations, support from industry professionals, and 1:1 creative mentoring and the opportunity to exhibit work and become part of a creative collaborative.

The programme will help young people in the city to achieve their creative aspirations and go on to realise their full potential with the help and guidance of skilled professionals.

Councillor Dr Kindy Sandhu, Cabinet Member for Education and Skills, said: “This funding means that any young person who is thinking of pursuing a career in the creative industry now has the opportunity to go and do this.

“It’s a wonderful programme for likeminded young people to get a taste of the creative sector, sample a range of artistic workshops and be mentored by some truly talented people, already working in the industry.

“Any young person who then decides they’d like to find work in the arts will be fully supported by The Job Shop and Arty Folks.”
