Introduction to Arty-Folks Art Studios in Coventry

3-week Intro course

Start your creative journey with Arty-Folks through a  3-week Introduction courses in-person at our studios in the centre of Coventry.

The course is free and we provide tuition, refreshments, and all art materials.

The atmosphere is very relaxing, sociable, and people are very easy to talk to but you can also just focus on your artwork.  You will get to know how we work and the team of staff running all our creative groups and 1:1 support activities.

The Arty-Folks team supporting you in this course:

  • Art Tutor facilitates the art group and will help you build your skills and confidence to express yourself.
  • Wellbeing Mentor supports participants 1:1 to talk through emotional and practical challenges in the here and now.
  • Support Worker provides you with information to address the social and economic challenges you have identified with our Wellbeing Mentor.

In these three 2hour workshops you will learn mindful painting techniques with acrylics that will help you relax and relieve mental distress.

To be eligible for enrolment

You must be 18-65years old and living in Coventry or Warwickshire, and

  • experiencing mental health difficulties such as anxiety, depression, psychosis, personality disorders, schizophrenia, or self-diagnosed mental distress.
  • be able to attend independently and be able to engage with others respectfully
  • be able to complete creative activities and tasks yourself without support

The 3-week introduction course is free and we provide tuition, art materials and refreshments.  We offer max.10 places and we do not accept drop-in.  

Please note that we are not able to offer specialist support for those at acute crisis point, with Dementia or Alzheimers, SEN,  Autism, or with a current alcohol or drug dependence.

Every year Arty-Folks needs to raise £3,000 for art materials alone, and we rely on the generous donations of individual members of the public like yourself.

Every penny donated to Arty-Folks helps us fund art materials like paint, glue, paper, wool, or tea&coffee&biscuits for over 150 people we support at our studios each year, or 1-1 mentoring for young people struggling with mental ill health.
