Locked down but still open

On March 23rd 2020, Covid-19 forced us to stop running our art groups face-to-face.

But we did not shut down altogether.

We decided that not being able to be in the same space isn’t going to stop us doing what we love most – connecting and creating with our members.

Covid-19 made us grow, change, develop – rapidly!

In response, we have moved ONLINE and we are running an exciting program of weekly projects with our members in small groups via Skype or Zoom.

How to join Arty-Folks

During this pandemic the only way to join Arty-Folks is by attending the ‘Fine Art to Wellbeing’, a popular 3 week course we run for the Coventry Recovery and Wellbeing Academy.  On completion you might be able to join a weekly art group if a space is available.

The Coventry Recovery & Wellbeing Academy offers a huge range of courses and workshops to promote personal development and self-management of mental health conditions. All courses are free and open to anyone over the age of 18 living in Coventry and Warwickshire.

The Fine Art to Well-Being

We think about creativity as making something new and original, but in fact the root meaning of creativity means ‘to grow’.  In this course you will explore how art can help you look at things from a fresh perspective and map a different way forward.  All materials and equipment will be provided FREE and will be delivered to an agreed address.

Learning outcomes:
– de-stress and channel your mental energy
– learn to express yourself through your own visual language
– learn to cultivate ‘me-time’ to improve focus and concentration

The course is suitable for total beginners as well as experienced artists, and anyone looking for alternative coping strategies to improve mental well-being.

It doesn’t matter whether you are experienced or a complete beginner. The focus of this course is not on teaching traditional art skills, but on experiencing how mental stress can be relieved through art and to encourage creativity in every day life.
