Our friends at Sitting Rooms of Culture have published their first book ‘Yesterday’s Diary – An Anthology of Coventry in Lockdown’, and we are deeply honoured that they are donating a £383.50 of the book’s royalties to Arty-Folks.

The facebook group Sitting Rooms of Culture was set up by four Coventry artists as a grassroots response to the Covid crisis. ‘Yesterday’s Diary’ began as their Couch Potato Writing Challenge during the first lockdown period last summer and became a collection of stories and poems written by ordinary citizens of Coventry and Warwickshire. 117 people of all ages and from all walks of life contributed to this book – from schoolkids to grandparents, NHS nurses to those who are shielding, complete novices to professional writers.

“I was blown away by the diversity, the quality, the wit, humour, honesty and emotional impact of what I was reading. Some pieces made me laugh, some made me cry, many made me think and some offered blissful escapism or searing realism.”  Cathy Cassidy

The cover drawing is by Tara Louise Malocco, a nurse who works in Coventry. Tara says in the book, “I took up drawing as therapy for my mental health during lockdown – and now have got a massive love for art.”

You can purchase Yesterday’s Diary from Fair Acre Press for £12.99 (which includes postage and packaging costs)
