Arty Meet-Up #2
- for Graduates
19:00 - 20:30
For our Creative Arts on Referral Graduates we are now holding Monthly Arty Meet-Up every last Sunday evening of the month. The purpose of these workshops is to connect and share skills with other creatives and help each other to keep our own arts practice fresh and vibrant.
March, we are so excited to introduce you to
the sculptor, silversmith and environmental artists AMANDA RANDALL
Amanda works in the contemporary craft tradition and is currently making a series of abstract stone carvings inspired by plants, trees and funghi. “I believe strongly in the therapeutic value of touch and working with your hands, and the power of art to build compassionate communities. I’m really looking forward to leading a stone carving project with Arty-Folks in the spring.”
Check out natureontheline.co.uk to see drawings and sculptures she is making in response to biodiversity loss caused by HS2 in Warwickshire. You can see some examples of public sculptures for both rural and urban locations she made here: amandarandalldesign.co.uk.
Amanda will first introduce how she developed her stone carving and how she works in nature,
and she will then engage us all in a 30 minute workshop for which you will need the following art materials:
– a cup+saucer or mug+plate
– 1 piece of A4 thin card – the side of a cereal packet would be fine. The size is approximate.
You need to be able to draw onto the card with your pencil and cut it easily with scissors (so not heavy corrugated cardboard)
– A4 paper or a sketch book
The workshop with Amanda is followed by our Graduates’ Bring&Share.
What are you working on right now? How’s it going? Do you want to ask anyone in the group for tips and tricks? Perhaps you are crocheting, upcycling, cooking, drawing, using your smart phone… how are you using your creativity? And there will be plenty of time to chat, exchange creative tips, and have a laugh!
This is a Zoom workshop and you will receive the link on registration.
Please check your spam/ junk folder if you do not receive the email in your inbox.
